Go wild in northern Minnesota: fall asleep to the call of loons, hear the howl of a wolf, see black bear or moose, and reel in a walleye from one of more than 11,000 lakes.
How you experience Minnesota’s stunning wilderness and lake resort areas is up to you. Here are just a few suggestions:
Try world-class, bucket-list paddling and camping through pristine Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
Unwind at picture-perfect log cabins near rugged Ely and dip your toes into natural lakes or mine lakes.
Hop across the humble Headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi River.
Play some of the nation’s most acclaimed golf courses, then enjoy a lakeside gourmet dinner in the Brainerd Lakes area.
This app explores Brainerd Lakes, Ely and the Iron Range, Mississippi Headwaters (Park Rapids and Walker), Glacial Lakes (Alexandria and Fergus Falls), plus other gems in Minnesotas Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Please note: Duluth and Minnesotas North Shore will be featured in a separate app from Sutro Media.

She’s paddled across 450-foot-deep quarries, bundled up for ice fishing, watched black bears in the wild, camped beneath the stars, discovered quirky museums and festivals, got sugar highs at ethnic bakeries, jumped across the Mississippi’s birthplace, and learned to do a pretty good loon call.
She writes for Midwest Living, AAA Living, Twin Cities Star Tribune, Family Vacation Critic (a TripAdvisor website), Log Home Living, and 10000Likes.com, her own website featuring favorite Upper Midwest destinations. She especially enjoys family-friendly travel with her husband, 11-year-old son and 7-year-old twin daughters in the review crew.
